Updates from the Drydocks - May 10th, 2021
Seals! Seals everywhere!
This is a collection of seals that we just finished putting together for stock and for a custom customer order. These are now available in my online store in both 1/8 inch and 3/16th inch inside diameters. Brass bodies remain in your sub and the high quality cup seals can easily be replaced in a matter of minutes.
Gargantuan Fiberglass Nose and Tail Cones!
These may not look like much right now, but they will soon be 10 -1/2 inch diameter nose and tail cones for an upcoming project. This will use the lost foam technique to create a fibreglass shell from a Styrofoam plug. I will be creating a video showing this process for anybody who's interested!
New Linear Servo Conversion
I am still working hard on the new line of cylinders. I ran into a little bit of a snag when I was installing the linear servo conversions that I would typically use for smaller boats. I ended up with a lot of binding and was exceptionally dissatisfied with the performance. Taking it right back to the drawing board, I drafted and printed a new set of parts that will convert any standard servo to true linear output. It uses a rack and pinion design and is exceptionally smooth. I am a very, very happy with the results. I foresee offering these as a standalone product for anybody looking to convert their servos to linear output.
Revell Skipjack with 3.5 OTW Dive Module
This was a rush project for a customer. Luckily 90% of the work was already done, so it was only a matter of a few hours of additional work to get it fully finished. Today we'll see her maiden voyage in the local swimming pool. Look for the operational video on my channel very soon!
I have 1 extra 3.5" cylinder here that is set up in the exact way. These are a custom setup and not Bob's standard configuration.
On a side note, Renee and I are taking an early Father's Day weekend. We will be leaving tomorrow morning and returning Monday night, so I will be back in the shop Tuesday morning. Jason will still be here to fill standard orders.
Have a great weekend everyone!
